Ukranian Women of FEMEN Crash Davos ;o)

By:  wendy davis

For Kgb, who wanted our site to be sole host to another wendydavis piece (/s);.  But for your pleasures, some fun from Davos.  It brings new meaning to the term ‘Occupy Davos’.

From AP:

“Three topless Ukrainian protesters were detained Saturday while trying to break into an invitation-only gathering of international CEOs and political leaders to call attention to the needs of the world's poor. Separately, demonstrators from the Occupy movement marched to the edge of the gathering.

After a complicated journey to reach the heavily guarded Swiss resort town of Davos, the Ukrainians arrived at the entrance to the complex where the World Economic Forum takes place every year.

With temperatures around freezing in the snow-filled town, they took off their tops and tried to climb a fence before being detained. "Crisis! Made in Davos," read one message painted across a protester's torso, while others held banners that said "Poor, because of you" and "Gangsters party in Davos." [...]

The activists are from the group FEMEN, which has become popular in Ukraine for staging small, half-naked protests to highlight a range of issues including oppression of political opposition. They have also conducted protests in some other countries.

"We came here to Switzerland to Davos to explain the position of all poor people of the world, to explain that we are poor because of these rich people who now sit in the building," said Inna Schewcenko.

I love feminists. ;o)

Hey, Obey, Mr. wendydavis paid me a few bucks to write this up so he could put in on his Favorites list.

I love feminists, don't you?

She's got the sign backwards.
No wonder the guys seem to hardly notice.

(By the way, judging from the scrunched up face in pic #1, I'd bet the girl has a healthy pair of lungs. They pegged Sharapova at 105 dB, about the same as a jackhammer. This one looks to have that beat.)

R U referring to the sound of the thwacked ball or her uhnn!-terrances?

Sign mightta been painted on both sides, but still...it was a purdy funny observation.

Re: lungs. In my parents' day, one might say, 'The neckline of her dress was so low you could see her lungs!'

Warrior Amazons.

Double interpretations certainly allowed, but actually the dB note referred to a sports page comparison of Sharapova vs. Azarena. Sadly, the dB meter was not the skill required to win - the quieter competitor pulled it out.

Not only that ... it looks like she stole that sign from another marcher. 'Prolly didn't want to get her own sign arrested.

That picture certainly does manage to project some serious volume. Wendy's right - both are pretty damn good photographs as images go.

Considering the similarity of approach, I don't understand why these guys aren't achieving the same popularity.

Awesone, kgb! But I have a question: If you were marketing those thongs, wouldn't you cut the heads out, leave the bit that gets attached to the elastic? Think of that image!

Gotta say , though, them are some cute geezers, but sadly, no. The vibrancy of the FEMEN beats em hands down.

BTW ... I *totally* approve of having this post dedicated to me.

Eat it Dagblog bikini girls! Wez gots full-on in-context BOOBIES!

(oh. wait. Did I miss the point?)

I'm somewhat curious about the "complicated journey" part. Is going from the Ukraine to Davos to get yourself arrested in the EU like going from Montana to Seattle to get yourself arrested here in the states?

They're getting arrested in Switzerland's and it's not in the EU. But their trip probably was complicated by the fact that Ukraine isn't in the Schengen agreement, with freedom of movement between countries. So maybe they needed visas, dunno. In any case, getting near Davos during the forum is harder than getting into a top secret military base. (and yes, I tried the latter but got arrested even though I kept my clothes on...)

Yes, you missed the point. And I might say a bit about it later when I'm not so rushed. (I spent too much time back on gosztola's diary; arrgh.)

But it did give me a reminder for another diary possibility...

And: I am SO glad you liked my dedication!

I'd always wondered if you'd been miffed at what you'd thought was evidence of my 'hypocrisy' about complaining about the shit at (the accursed) dagblog, and other things that I enjoy conversing and joking about, la la la...

I remember sending Des a few examples of what I was seeing there, wondered about his take. He immediately labeled them 'gratuitous voyeurism', or something close to that.

One was put up by DickDay, and was hard to connect to his diary about (maybe) illegal immigration. It was a huge photo of a sweaty woman kneeling on the floor, after just have given birth; every dot of sweat glistened, and I'll leave the rest of the description alone. To me, it stank of misogyny; he didn't use it as a loving emblem of a home birth experience, believe me.

Donal used tits just to provoke and shock, just another punk kid who goaded and poked his way through life, IMO; the class clown misfit, relying on that sort of behavior to get attention.

So: it irked me to have a comment cut out by the fucking hypocrite A-man that said the word 'vagina'. Shouldda gone with 'yoni', I guess.

Me? Gotta say that these fucking crazy Euro boys have been teaching me over the years that there are wide ways to understand and appreciate sex and sexual allusions and art, and I've appreciated the education.

Not that I like any of them, mind you... O:-)

He's fine; but you're one of 'these Euro boys' I was referencing, darlin', so I should have specified Euro-Chinese-expats, mebbe.

Not to mention that your Cho namesake I find completely alluring, though not because he's buff, but he's intriguing as all giddy-up in his oft' understated power, sexuality, and all things Cho.

Mr. wendydavis has worked hard (srsly hard) to find this group Des brought us on the ill-fated Robert diary on which I mentioned suffering serious ass-cramp. None of knew exactly if his objections to that malady peeved him or he was just joshin', but...we...well, some of us, got a little (mebbe more than a li'l bit, okay...) carried away teasing about it.

Sorry to digress so far, but he checked every freaking diary on this place to discover, TaDA! The Cramps! Talk about in-your-face-Dadaesque (Dadaist?) musicians:

The Cramps are pretty brutal live (and not in an entirely positive way) ... or at least they were when I saw 'em. The Misfits were fully awesome though - so it balanced out.
